Two TRIO students at Ivy Tech Community College Fort Wayne have received scholarships from Indiana TRIO. Crystal Horne and Cassy Canfield, current Ivy Tech Fort Wayne students, both won the Indiana TRIO Textbook Scholarship. The scholarship awards $500 towards the 2022–23 academic year. Crystal and Cassy were two of only six students in Indiana who were awarded the scholarship.
“TRIO feels like family,” says Crystal Horne. “The staff are invested in your education and they want you to succeed. It can be tough adjusting to college, but TRIO goes the extra mile to make sure it is a smooth transition.”
“TRIO programs leverage national and state financial aid dollars already on the table to provide the supports that ensure student success,” said Beth Clemens, director of Ivy Tech Fort Wayne’s TRIO Student Support Services. “We are very proud of these TRIO students who went the extra mile in securing additional funding for their education.”
TRIO Student Support Services’ mission is to provide services to 160 first-generation, low-income students with or without disabilities as they work toward a degree or certificate at Ivy Tech Fort Wayne, with a goal of achieving completion within a four-year period.
