Fort Wayne Campus to host FIRST LEGO League robotics qualifying event

WHAT:
Ivy Tech Community College’s Fort Wayne Campus will host the FIRST® LEGO® League Qualifying Tournament, a robotics competition.

WHEN:
9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 11

DETAILS:

This qualifying event is one of many throughout Indiana. Teams that have created a LEGO® robot will compete before judges in four areas:

  1. Robot performance
  2. FIRST® LEGO® League core values, which references how teams prepare for the tournament and behave as a team
  3. Robot design
  4. Project presentation

Each of the four areas will have a first and second place finisher.

The following schools or groups will participate in the tournament:

  • Angola Middle School, Angola
  • Steuben County Literacy Coalition, Angola
  • Arcola Elementary School, Arcola
  • Woodside Middle School, Fort Wayne
  • St. Charles Borromeo Catholic School, Fort Wayne
  • Carroll Middle School, Fort Wayne
  • Bows and Girls Clubs of Fort Wayne
  • Irwin Elementary School, Fort Wayne
  • Maple Creek Middle School, Fort Wayne
  • Paul Harding Junior High School, Fort Wayne
  • Holland Elementary School, Fort Wayne
  • Huntertown Elementary School, Huntertown
  • Huntington County 4-H, Huntington
  • Leo Elementary School, Leo

The top three overall teams will advance to the Indiana FIRST® LEGO® League Championship Tournament on Dec. 9 at IPFW. Visit www.etcs.ipfw.edu/fll to learn more about FIRST® LEGO® League.
