Ivy Tech Community College’s Fort Wayne Campus is now offering two new academic programs and two new curriculum options for existing programs.

Patient Care Technician is an associate degree program that prepares students with skills such as taking vital signs, performing electrocardiography, drawing blood, and other procedures to help with the day-to-day care of healthcare patients.
Patient Care Technician classes are located in the Fort Wayne Campus’s new facility, the Parkview Education Center. Learn more about the program at IvyTech.edu/patientcare. For questions about the program, contact Healthcare Specialist program chair Cindy Chenoweth at cchenoweth@ivytech.edu or 260-480-2092.
Psychology is a degree program intended for transfer to a four-year school. Once students receive their two-year associate degree from Ivy Tech, their credits can transfer to a bachelor’s degree program at four-year schools including Indiana, Purdue, and Ball State universities.
Psychology students can find employment as mental health assistants, youth counselors, home care aides, and addictions rehabilitation assistants. Beginning spring 2018, new Business Administration and Accounting students will be able to sign up for an eight-week cohort model. This has a number of benefits:
- By learning with a cohort, students will complete their entire degree with the same peers, which makes studying and receiving peer-to-peer help easier.
- Students will still take four classes a semester, assuring them full-time status, but they will take only two classes at a time: two during the first eight weeks and two during the second. This means students are responsible for material in only two classes at a time.
- This structure will assure students complete their degree in two years.
