Happy fall semester! Have fun at Ivy Tech this week

Happy fall 2017, Ivy Tech students! Each semester, Ivy Tech hosts events to break up your week and encourage you to have a little fun.

And during the first week of the semester? We do that daily.

You might have seen groups of students and employees with their NASA glasses staring at the eclipse out in front of Coliseum Campus and the Student Life Center today. I hope you got a chance to check out the eclipse (safely!)–it looked insanely cool. As it neared its peak eclipse (the moon covered 85 percent of the sun at 2:24 p.m.), all you could see of the sun was the sliver of a nail clipping.

Here’s what Ivy Tech has planned for you the rest of the week:

Stress Down Day

11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Crescent Commons (Coliseum Campus)
We’re just trying to promote your health and wellness so you don’t get too stressed out over the first few days of classes. We’ll have artists giving henna tattoos, fidget spinners to hand out, DIY bath salt, soothing music, and info on our counseling services.

Here’s the Scoop

11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Ivy Tower Plaza (North Campus)
Culvers is providing us frozen custard. Come get a scoop and learn all about student orgs on campus.

Keep it Smooth as a Smoothie

11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, Student Life Center hallway (North Campus)
Grab a smoothie and learn all about support and resources we offer to help you make it to graduation.

Wild Ivy Night

6 to 9 p.m. Friday, Ivy Tower Plaza (North Campus)
We’ll have music, activities, and a petting zoo. Bring your friends and family and stuff a fluff, play in the bounce house, complete crafts, eat, dance, and more.
