Black History Month events at Ivy Tech Northeast

In recognition of Black History Month, Ivy Tech Community College Northeast is hosting the following events, which the public are invited to participate in or view:

Random Acts of Kindness
During February, Ivy Tech Northeast students and employees are encouraged to visit one of three “random acts of kindness” boards, where they can pull an act, perform the act, and post details about the act. The boards are located in the Student Life Center on North Campus (3701 Dean Drive), the Public Safety Academy: Ivy Tech South Campus (7602 Patriot Crossing), and Colisum Campus (3800 N. Anthony Blvd.)

Full Contact Trivia Crack
Think “Trivial Pursuit” on steroids. Facts will be related to current events related to and contributions made by black inventors, entrepreneurs, and scientists.

African Dance Session, Omotayo Rite of Passage
Viewers will have the opportunity to experience drum and dance performances that are native to African cultures.
11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Feb. 8, Student Life Center gymnasium (3701 Dean Drive)

African American Read-In
Students, employees, and community members can read excerpts of their favorite black authors or original work. To register, participants can contact Chris Douse at cdouse@ivytech.edu. Time slots are limited.
