Nicole Procise

Ivy Tech Community College Northeast Health Care Support instructor Nicole Procise has been selected to serve on the American Society for Clinical Pathology’s Board of Certification Phlebotomy Examination Committee. The ASCP is the world’s largest professional membership organization for pathologists and laboratory professionals.

“I’m proud to represent Ivy Tech at such a distinguished organization,” Procise says. “It is a privilege to encourage and prepare my own students to take the national phlebotomy exam.”

Procise’s roles on the board will include contributing questions for the national phlebotomy exam, reviewing questions each year that do not perform well statistically, and maintaining a question database for U.S. and international examinees. Her board stewardship of two, three-year terms begins Oct. 1.

“Nicole has her finger on the pulse of phlebotomy education and is also knowledgeable on the needs of students to meet the growing demands in health care,” says Walter Oliveira, ASCP’s Board of Governors liaison to the Phlebotomy Examination Committee. “She understands the importance of curriculum development, content outlines, and objectives to help students focus on the important aspects in this vital career.”

Procise has more than 20 years of experience in health care, covering administrative, clinical, and forensic areas in the field. She also maintains membership with the American Society of Criminology and the Clinical Laboratory and Standards Institute.

Beyond her responsibilities at Ivy Tech Northeast, she is a part-time investigation assistant for a forensics consulting group in Angola, Ind., and pursuing a master’s degree in forensic science.

Before becoming a full-time faculty member in 2013, Procise was an adjunct faculty member at the College during the five years prior. She was the recipient of the Adjunct Faculty Award for Excellence in Instruction in 2012.
