Ivy Tech Community College Northeast, IPFW, Fort Wayne Girls Rock, and the Indiana-Purdue Student Government Association are working together to present Fatherhood: The First Class Seat, Part II. The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 12 at Public Safety Academy: Ivy Tech South Campus (7602 Patriot Crossing).
The event, which focuses on the importance of fatherhood, will include a roundtable discussion with youth and community members and a dialogue lead by Anthony Payton, pastor at Come As You Are Community Church. The free event geared toward middle and high school students will also include students from Ivy Tech Northeast and IPFW serving as mentors.
“From a diversity standpoint especially, many of our youth as well as the student population we serve are affected by their interactionswith their father, or the lack of an interaction,” says Daysha Jackson, Student Affairs assistant vice chancellor at Ivy Tech Northeast. “This will be an opportunity for young people to share and identify with others who may also have had similar experiences. It will also help them come to grips with whatever relationship they may have with their fathers.”
Participants can RSVP by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
Part I of the event occurred on Feb. 13 at IPFW.
