Ivy Tech Community College Northeast will host the FIRST® LEGO® League Qualifying Tournament, a robotics competition, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 23 at the Public Safety Academy: Ivy Tech South Campus (7602 Patriot Crossing). Registration starts at 8 a.m., and closing ceremonies are at 4 p.m.
This qualifying event is one of many in locations throughout Indiana. It will feature 14 LEGO® robot teams bringing their completed robots before judges. They will compete in four areas:
- Robot performance
- FIRST® LEGO® League core values, which references how teams prepare for the tournament and behave as a team
- Robot design
- Project
Each of the four areas will have a first and second place finisher, and the top three overall teams will advance to the Indiana FIRST® LEGO® League Championship Tournament, to be held Dec. 14 at IPFW.
“Many teams have been working on their robots for a while, so this is the culmination of a lot of hard work,” says Andy Bell, chair for Pre-Engineering and Engineering Technology at Ivy Tech Northeast.
