Chad Craig walk/run to benefit Ivy Tech Foundation for student scholarships

When Chad Craig, a local man with cystic fibrosis, died in May 2009, his family and friends started the Charles “Chad” Craig Memorial Scholarship Foundation.

The scholarship foundation needed one more fundraiser to hit its $10,000 endowment goal, and thus, the Chad Craig Fun Run was born. All money will serve as scholarships to benefit students in Ivy Tech Community College Northeast’s Respiratory Care program and one senior in cross country at Fremont High School, where Chad was a runner.

The one-mile walk/5k run will take place at 9 a.m. Aug. 3 at Angola Middle School, 1350 E. Maumee St., Angola. To register, mail your name, signature, date, full address, phone number, email address, birth date, shirt size and emergency contact information, to Candace Biernat, 1565 W. Maumee St., Angola, IN 46703. The entry fee is $20, and checks can be made payable to the Chad Craig Scholarship Fund.

Entrants can also register online, at runrace.net. To guarantee a shirt, registration is due by July 20.
