The Indiana Commission for Higher Education (CHE) recently approved Ivy Tech Community College−Northeast to offer an Associate of Science and an Associate of Applied Science in Supply Chain Management/Logistics, an Associate of Science in Hospitality Administration and a Technical Certificate in Public Safety Technology. Each new academic program will begin fall semester 2013.
Supply Chain Management/Logistics
Supply chain management and logistics is a major industry in Indiana. Many companies now depend on their ability to accurately move goods around the world. Ivy Tech’s Supply Chain Management/Logistics program prepares a workforce to meet this demand. Indiana’s central location and access to national and world markets has attracted a large increase in the number of companies in the transportation, distribution and logistics arena.
The logistics and transportation field uses high-end technology and information systems to track goods and increase efficiencies in delivery. Career opportunities for graduates include shipping and receiving clerk, cargo and freight agent and first-line supervisor.
Starting in the fall, this program will offer students in the Fort Wayne area the opportunity to expand their knowledge and potential in this industry. The Associate of Applied Science option will prepare students to be career-ready, while the Associate of Science option is designed for students who wish to transfer their coursework to a four-year college or university for a baccalaureate degree.
