The Culinary program at Ivy Tech Community College–Northeast will open its weekly, student-managed deli on Feb. 6. Once again, the name of the deli will be “Kelty’s Kafé” in memory of Chef Bob Kelty, who passed away in August 2011.
The Bakery Merchandising course creates and manages a deli each semester on the Coliseum Campus (3800 N. Anthony Blvd.) in the Anthony Commons. Each student is assigned a week as head chef, and in this role, he or she will create a themed menu full of fresh and unique items. The students also plan the production schedule, prepare requisitions for food purchases, and calculate costs.
The menu for Wednesday, Feb. 6 will feature a grilled ham and cheese Panini with the choice of soup or salad, as well as a wide assortment of bakery and pastry items including a signature cookie to celebrate Ivy Tech’s 50th Anniversary.
“Kelty’s Kafé” is open every Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. through the end of April. Depending on availability, the weekly menu will be posted on the Ivy Tech−Northeast calendar the Friday prior to deli offerings. Prices are reasonable and an ever-changing selection of student creations will be available.
