Ivy Tech hosting “Kinetic King” from America’s Got Talent

Ivy Tech Community College−Northeast is welcoming Tim Fort, also known as the Kinetic King, to Fort Wayne Oct. 5. Fort will build chain-reaction gadgets, as seen on “America’s Got Talent.” This is part of a series of events provided by Ivy Tech’s  INSPIRE Academy.

This event is taking place with the help of Ivy Tech’s marketing partners: Indiana’s NewsCenter, Glenbrook Mall, TekVenture and Science Central. This INSPIRE Academy event on Friday, Oct. 5 precedes the Oct. 6–7 Fort Wayne Regional Maker Faire – powered by TekVenture.

The Kinetic King (Tim Fort) is famous for creating unique chain-reaction gadgets such as stick bombs, herringbones and clever-levers, among many others. He grew up in Saint Paul, Minn., and earned his bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Minnesota.The Kinetic King has set two Guinness world records for “largest stick bomb” and has performed at countless festivals, conferences and exhibitions. His biggest performance was in the summer of 2011 on “America’s Got Talent.” He made it to an impressive 13th place out of 25,000 auditions.

Ivy Tech will host 8th grade students from Angola Middle School. The day will include hands-on activities and demonstrations from the Kinetic King, Science Central, TekVenture and Ivy Tech−Northeast.

Noon to 7 p.m.
Glenbrook Square Mall
(4201 Coldwater Road, Fort Wayne)

The Kinetic King will build a chain-reaction gadget in Macy’s Court. This event is free and open to the public. The announcement and launch of his custom gadget will be at 7 p.m.
