Ivy Tech Community College−Northeast is hosting the NAACP Indiana State Education Summit Aug. 11. The keynote speaker is Dr. Alfred W. Tatum, an associate professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago and the director of the UIC Reading Clinic. He authored the award-winning book “Teaching Reading to Black Adolescent Males: Closing the Achievement Gap.” NAACP is the nation’s oldest and largest civil rights organization and is concerned about the education of all children.
The event is 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 11 in the Student Life Center on Ivy Tech’s North Campus (4900 St. Joe Rd.)
