In honor of Martin Luther King Day, Ivy Tech Community College−Northeast is presenting “Every Child Has a Dream” at 6 p.m. Jan. 19 in the Student Life gymnasium (4900 St. Joe Road). This event is being hosted by Ivy Tech Diversity Affairs and the Multicultural Student Organization. It is free and open to the public.

“Every Child Has a Dream” will feature keynote speaker Marshall White, the founder and CEO of Unity Performing Arts Foundation (UPAF) and the director/life coach for the Voices of Unity Choir, UPAF’S Youth Choral Program.

“The contributions of Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. are recognized by so many people and nations,” said Diana Jackson, director of Diversity Affairs. “He is best known as an icon of the civil rights movement. He spoke out on many other issues, such as value, education, poverty, social justice, war, hatred, racial equality, peace, love and more. In his spirit, I share so many of those values and believe that in our educational institution we should all be committed to being ‘relevant agents of change,’ aspiring to be kind and to make a difference where and when we can, as Dr. King Jr. did.”

The event will feature Voices of Unity Choir, MLK Club, East Wayne Street Head Start and Club Unified.

About Marshall White
Marshall White is the founder/CEO of Unity Performing Arts Foundation, (UPAF) and the director/life coach for the Voices of Unity Youth Choir, UPAF’S Youth Choral Program. Under his direction the Voices of Unity Youth Choir has performed at several Indianapolis Colts games, and performed with R&B singer Keyshia Cole on the 2007 NFL Kick-Off Celebration. Indianapolis Colts President Bill Polian has endorsed the choir.  He led the Voices of Unity Youth Choir to their first international competition and won the World Grand Champion title and two gold medals in the Sixth World Choir Games in Shaoxing, China in July 2010 and upon return to the city he was presented the General’s award of Fort Wayne by Dan O’Connell, President/CEO Fort Wayne Allen County Convention and Visitors Bureau and Mayor Tom Henry, City of Fort Wayne on July 30, 2010.
