On May 6, Ivy Tech Fort Wayne was awarded in two categories during the annual statewide Career and Technical Education (CTE) Awards for Excellence. College representatives and a NEINFAME student headed to Indianapolis where they were honored during an award ceremony.

The College was recognized in the following categories:

  • Outstanding Postsecondary CTE Student Award – Sam Levitz, NEINFAME student
  • Award for Excellence for a Postsecondary Program – Industrial Technology

“Being recognized by the state for these awards is a testament to our faculty who work tirelessly to ensure students have the skills and abilities needed upon entering the workforce,” says Bob Parker, Program Chair for Industrial Technology. “It’s nice to see that northeast Indiana has exemplary programs producing exemplary students!”

Ivy Tech Fort Wayne’s Industrial Technology program is largely hands-on. Students gain experience in the state-of-the-art Flex Lab in the Technology Center. Plus, they take courses on job-specific topics ranging from welding to fluid power systems.

The CTE awards happen each May recognizing students, programs, and partnerships at the high school and college level for their impact, success, and overall quality. Institutions submit nominations that are reviewed and rated by a selection committee made up of industry and educational professionals.

This isn’t the first time Ivy Tech Fort Wayne has been honored. Since the 20-21 school year, the CTE awards has recognized two partnerships and the Electronics and Computer Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, and Engineering Technology programs.
