Ivy Tech Community College Fort Wayne and Warsaw is proud to honor its distinguished alumni, faculty, and a benefactor for their contributions to the College and community as part of statewide awards.
“We’re proud to recognize these exceptional individuals and celebrate their dedication and hard work to embody the commitment to education, community service, and professional development that we strive for at Ivy Tech,” says Dr. Kim Barnett-Johnson, Chancellor of Ivy Tech Fort Wayne/Warsaw. “Their contributions not only make our campus a better place, but they also impact the lives of our students and broader community.”
A local alumna and benefactor were both recognized at Ivy Tech’s statewide 60th Anniversary Gala on Friday, Nov. 10 in Indianapolis.

Originally from Guadalajara, Mexico, she joined Ivy Tech Fort Wayne’s TRIO Student Support Services in 2005, and later earned a Bachelor of Science in Human Services at IPFW (now Purdue Fort Wayne). She has an extensive background in social services and has been recognized with multiple awards throughout her career.
The Northeast Indiana Chapter of the Indiana Federation of Advanced Manufacturing Education (NEI INFAME) is Fort Wayne’s Honored Benefactor. The aim is to help with educating skilled workers to meet the needs of local manufacturing employers.

The College also recognized faculty at a separate event for their exemplary work with students and the community during the past year.
The Faculty President’s Award Honoree was Dr. Carla Quickel, Associate Professor of Business Administration, for her advocacy and involvement in the College and community. Orene Colcord, an adjunct faculty member since 2010, was honored the Adjunct Faculty President’s Award for her dedication to theater arts education, including the development of a new Introduction to Acting course.
