Elsa Marston, author of the book “Santa Claus in Baghdad,” will give two presentations at Ivy Tech Community College−Northeast April 17 at the Student Life Center (4900 St. Joe Road).
During the first session, Marston will talk about her book, “Santa Claus in Baghdad,” and on topics related to writing. The second session will focus on two films, one based on Marston’s book and another titled “Just Your Average Arab,” both by Egyptian American filmmaker Raouf Zaki. This session will emphasize dialogues and encounters between faiths, cultures and artistic media.
“These events are designed to promote awareness of literature and films that convey the experiences of Arabs and Arab Americans in the United states and abroad,” said Teresa Vazquez-Hall, humanities program chair.

Marston will provide commentary on two films, once based on her book and another titled “Just Your Average Arab.” The film presentation will culminate in a brief Skype Q&A session with filmmaker Raouf Zaki.
