The Special Cuisines class at Ivy Tech Community College–Northeast invites the community to join its students, faculty and staff for an Italian buffet Feb. 9.
Community members will get the opportunity to sample traditional Italian fare while supporting students, as they showcase their culinary talents. Guests will be able to sample from the following items:
Buffet Menu
Appetizers
Fried Calamari with Fritti sauce- Crispy calamari served with spicy tomato, caper, and white wine sauce
Antipasti Plate- meat and cheese platter served with marinated vegetables
Bruschetta- toasted baguette topped with fresh tomato and basil
Soup
Creamy Chicken and potato gnocchi- creamy chicken soup served with handmade potato gnocchi
Salads
Italian style grain salad– fresh and light salad combining bulgur, chickpeas and lentils
Caprese Salad– a classical Italian salad that layers ripe tomatoes, fresh mozzarella and basil
Breads– focaccia and Italian bread served with olive oil and roasted garlic spread
Entrees
Polpettona Ripiena– an Italian style meatloaf with sausage, beef, mortadella and radicchio
Portabella Ravioli -house made herb ravioli stuffed with portabellas and tossed with sundried tomato-smoked Gouda sauce
Chicken Piccata seared chicken breasts served with garlic, caper and white wine sauce. Made to order in the dining room.
Vegetables and Starch
Eggplant Rolentinos- Thinlly sliced eggplant stuffed with spinach and ricotta cheese, served with fresh tomato coulis
Asparagus and Pea Risotto- classically rich Arborio rice risotto with asparagus and peas
Desserts
Tiramisu- a classical Italian dessert made with espresso, mascarpone cheese and lady fingers
Panna Cotta- vanilla flavored custard served with fresh raspberry sauce
Limencello granita- frozen ice prepared with Limoncello liquor and lemons
Ice Tea, Coffee, Espresso
Dinners are open to the public. They are located on Ivy Tech’s Coliseum Campus (3800 N. Anthony Blvd.) in the Hospitality Room (enter door 24 on the north side of the building). Cost is $20 per person, cash or check only.
Reservations are taken for times between 5 and 6:30 p.m. and must be made at least 24 hours in advance. To make a reservation, call the Special Cuisines line at 260-480-2002.
