Ivy Tech Community College−Northeast and the Disposable Alternatives Organization (DAO) are hosting a free Electronics and Appliance Recycling Day from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 8. This event invites the surrounding community to dispose of their unwanted items in an environmentally-friendly way.
“Ivy Tech Community College wants to help residents of northeast Indiana find a way to dispose of their unusable items, while keeping those items out of the landfills,” said Anne Michel, assistant director of academic affairs support, community outreach. “This recycling event allows people to finally get rid of large and small items that have been cluttering their closets, basements and garages.”
The Disposable Alternatives Organization (DAO) of Indianapolis, Ind., provides ethical recycling options in the community and uses those materials to create jobs. They give these jobs to people who need them the most, providing a second chance to those who have significant barriers to employment.
