Two staff members from the Center for Academic Excellence (CAE) completed their academic support certification with the National Association for Developmental Excellence (NADE). James Duly, director of the CAE, and Tera Archbold, CAE Health Sciences tutor, were recently recognized for successful completion of the NADE Certification Council Training Institute for Tutoring Services in Washington, D.C. This certification will allow the college’s tutoring center to expound on the standards and growth of the student service office by affording the center fresh resources to maintain and improve student success.

“The NADE certification is important to the CAE staff, because their missions are one in the same—helping underprepared students, assisting prepared students advance to next steps, and aid advanced students excel—at the end of the day, that’s what academic excellence is all about,” Duly said.

The Center for Academic Excellence is Ivy Tech–Northeast’s free tutoring center. It has three locations—Coliseum Campus (Room CC2308) and North Campus, Harshman Hall (Room’s HM1610 and HM1657). Free tutoring, printing, and open computer labs are among the many educational aids available to students. With the resources available, the CAE aims to ensure students become competent, self directed learners.
