The Culinary Program at Ivy Tech Community College–Northeast will open its weekly, student-managed deli on Wednesday, February 2. This semester, students have named the deli The Comfort Café, and it offers the perfect mix of old and new favorites.

For approximately 10 years, the Bakery Merchandising course has created and managed a deli each semester on the Coliseum Campus (3800 N. Anthony Blvd.). Each student is assigned a week as head chef, and in this role, he or she will create a themed menu full of fresh and unique items. The students then research and create the recipes they will use.

“This is something our students and employees look forward to each semester. Every class brings in new students, which results in a variety of tastes each and every week,” said Jeff Bunting, department chair for hospitality administration. “We want to be sure the northeast Indiana community knows they are invited to visit our deli every Wednesday.”

The Comfort Café is open Wednesdays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The weekly menu is announced on the Friday prior to sales. Prices are very reasonable and an ever-changing selection of student creations will be available. Depending on menu availability, food items will be posted on the College Calendar at www.ivytech.edu/fortwayne. For more information, contact Jeff Bunting at 260-481-2240 or jbunting1@ivytech.edu.
