For the first time, Ivy Tech Community College–Northeast students will bring Fort Wayne a whole new event to sample just what Ivy Tech has cookin’. The “Taste of Ivy Tech” is slated for Thursday, November 18, 2010, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Ivy Tech–Northeast’s Coliseum Campus inside Anthony Commons.
The event will be coordinated between the college’s Special Events Management course and the Culinary Arts Program. Students will provide several delicious food, bakery, and pastry options from around the world that will definitely get guests mouths watering.
In order to sample the selection, guests must purchase individual food tickets at the door. They are $1, and the cost of a sample begins at one ticket. Multiple tickets may be required depending on the food item.
“Taste of Ivy Tech” is a fundraising event to offset the cost of the Culinary Arts Program’s “Mystery Basket Competition,” in which several student winners are chosen to travel to Italy for an educational culinary experience. Children’s activities and a silent auction will also take place during the event.
“This has the potential of becoming an annual fundraising event that showcases what our Culinary Program is all about,” said Heather Eracleous, who is the college’s special events coordinator and special events faculty member. “The event also gives the newly created Event Management concentration practical experience for its enrolled students.”
