The office of Richard Lugar (R), Indiana’s senior U.S. Senator — in partnership with Ivy Tech Community College–Northeast, Indiana University–Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW), and Military Family Research Institute (MFRI) — invites veterans to participate in a Veteran Career Transition Fair, Monday, Nov. 15 through Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2010.

“I encourage all veterans needing employment to participate in this year’s Veteran Career Transition Fair at Ivy Tech Community College–Northeast. Your skill set and experience in the military is invaluable to today’s employers,” Lugar said.  “I am pleased to join with federal, state, and local organizations to provide opportunities for veterans seeking employment or access to educational opportunities.”

The three-day event will take place at Ivy Tech Community College–Northeast’s Coliseum Campus (3800 N. Anthony Blvd., Fort Wayne, IN) and begins Monday and Tuesday, Nov. 15 and 16, with seminars offering assistance on job searching techniques, résumé writing, and interviewing skills. Wednesday, Nov. 17, from 3 to 6 p.m., more than 100 employers, educational institutions, and service organizations will be available to provide employment information as well as training and educational opportunities to veterans.

“Northeast Indiana has an astounding number of individuals who have served our country,” said Ivy Tech–Northeast Chancellor Jerrilee K. Mosier. “We’re grateful for the opportunity to provide such valuable resources and assistance to our community’s veterans as well as families of veterans.”

Members of the Ivy Tech–Northeast and IPFW Student Veteran Organizations will be available to assist with concerns veterans may have with their GI Bill benefits, and seminars will be conducted by both Ivy Tech–Northeast and IPFW’s Career Services offices. More information on Senator Lugar’s Veteran Career Transition Fair is available at www.ivytech.edu/fortwayne/lugarcareer or by calling 260-481-2282.

To help manage the abundance of information and available resources, Senator Lugar has compiled a series of pamphlets and handbooks on a variety of topics of significance to Hoosiers. Individuals may access these pamphlets by visiting http://lugar.senate.gov/services/resources/ or contact your regional Senator Lugar office.
